Description: Through this train we will explore how built-in accessibility and mobile apps with the iPad can assist both teachers and students with making information multi-sensory.

The workshop will follow three stages using iPads; each step will have demonstration followed by hands-on practice:
  • 1.Strategies for instructors to present class material and lectures in a multisensory environment.
  • 2.Strategies for student to capture class material and interact with it using different multisensory options.
  • 3.Exploring the built-in accessibility features of iPads

    Morning: 10:00-12:00

  • 1. Instructor Strategies
  • a.Goodnotes: Zoom capabilities and Sonocent for recording
  • b. Notability Notability: written notes and audio during class, (Ipad pro w/ Apple pencil)
  • 2.Student Strategies
  • a.Notability, Notetaking with recording
  • b.Dragon and Google Audio to text
  • c.ClaroSpeak+, Image read aloud with OCR
  • d.PDF Readers

    Lunch: 12:00-1:00pm

    Afternoon: 1:00-3:00pm: Repeat of morning session

    Participants will be able to do the following:
  • 1.Identify ways of helping teachers integrate accessible apps into curriculum
  • 2.Identify ways of using apps to support students with disabilities

    Intended for community college staff who primarily support students with learning disabilities and faculty who teach general education classes.
