Learn how to use Kurzweil 3000 and Firefly as a solution for Alternate Media book production. Firefly is a wonderful new addition to Kurzweil. It uses a “cloud-based” book library that will speed up delivery times, and increase the access to students by utilizing Mac and PC platforms, as well as tablets. In this hands on class, you will understand how to create a production work-flow suited for your institution that will streamline acquiring, converting, editing, and delivery of electronic books to students.

At the end of this training, participants will understand and be able to perform these tasks:

  • Understand Kurzweil 3000, Firefly, and the “cloud based” library
  • Acquire electronic textbooks through scanning or other databases
  • Convert to Kurzweil (.kes) files using Kurzweil Automater
  • Rezone and Edit pages for quick turn-around times
  • Use Kurzweil 300 batch uploader
  • Increase students use through multiple platforms and devices
  • Monitor and report on students use
Reimbursement Level: Please be advised that reimbursement is only available for travel expenses for California community college Disabled Student Services Faculty and Staff. Hotel expenses will not be reimbursed.
